Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes with Maple Cream Cheese Icing

Ever inspired by Cupcakes & Cashmere's food posts, I made these incredible little Pumpkin cupcakes yesterday. They use 100% pure pumpkin puree (not pie filling) which makes them taste so fresh. They're perfect for a fall day or even as an alternative to pumpkin pie. They're very easy to make, and the icing is an absolutely perfect compliment. I garnished them with pecan halves after messily frosting them and they were complete with a lovely autumn-afternoon-home-cooked feel.

The recipe is Ina Garten's and can be found here. I doubled up the recipe to make about 20 cupcakes. Enjoy!

In Between

It's still too warm for real fall layers in Toronto, so we're kind of faced with an in between season stage, where I just don't know what to wear. This little mix might just do for today.

NYFW Spring 2012 Favourite

It's barely even fall yet and we've already blown past NYFW. 3.1 Phillip Lim absolutely takes the cake for my favourite spring 2012 collection. Bits and pieces of each collection stood out to me, but Lim's is one of the only ones I consistently tuned into to each look. Michael Kors and Preen, however, were close seconds.

The Easy Updo

If you're going out somewhere special, but don't have much time to do anything extravagant; this updo is so simple, lovely to look at - and only takes two minutes.
Start by putting your hair up into a high, sleek ponytail.

Loop your ponytail into a quick bun.

With one hand, push the bun forward. It should fan out like this, but use
your fingers to fan it out evenly around the hair tie.
*Tip: If you see the hair tie exposed, before you put it in a bun, wrap a
strand of hair around the hair tie and secure underneath with
a bobby pin.

Using several bobby pins, secure the bun forward.

Voila! I chose to leave some stray bits here and there so it doesn't look
perfect, but feel free to tuck them away for a sleeker look.

Add an accessories for interest if you're in the mood...

And finish it all off with a swipe of the darkest plum
lipstick you can find. Perfect for a fall night out.
